Information ethics deals with ethical questions in the field of digital production and reproduction of phenomena and processes as well as the exchange, combination and use of (particularly) digital information.
Maintaining a broad focus on the corresponding ethical issues and being open for the fast developments in the field the STI-IE is particularly devoted to ethical questions of all kinds of digital devices affecting through their code and/or content social interaction.
The STI-IE envisions an international as well as intercultural cooperation focusing on the ethical impacts of information technology on human practices and thinking, particularly on social, economic, political, scientific and cultural interaction.
The STI-IE is devoted to academic research as well as to practical projects.
Rafael Capurro was nominated as "Distinguished Researcher in Information Ethics" (2009-2012) by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, School of Information Studies.
Michael Nagenborg has been elected as a member of the board of the International Society for Ethics & Information Technology (2010-2011).
